My Story

Meet Auggie and Amara! They are looking to be adopted as a pair. Amara is a female longhair gray female who was abandoned by her mother as a newborn and raised as a bottle baby. Auggie is a male gray shorthair with the most adorable white toes on his hind paws. He was taken in around the time that both kittens were about 2 weeks old so that Amara wouldn’t be a single kitten. Thankfully, all ended up well and they bonded immediately. Both kittens have very different personalities; however, they complement each other wonderfully. Amara is more fear-free and quicker to trust. She still takes a bit to settle in but once she does she is the more outgoing of the two. She loves getting affection and is really just as sweet as can be. Auggie is the more cautious of the two but once he settles in he is playful, goofy and loving. Amara definitely helps him come out of his shell when they are in new environments and adjusting to new people and things. Auggie is also super sweet but not quite as cuddly as Amara is. That being said, they both play hard and rest hard and they are people loving kitties who need a home that can provide lots of love. Because Auggie can be a bit shy at first, their foster mom thinks that while they would do well and adjust to a multitude of home environments that it would be best if the home wasn’t extremely loud and busy. Older children would be best versus toddlers. Adopters will need some patience to let them settle in. They are used to dog sounds, smells and sights but have not had direct contact with dogs. A calm dog without a tendency to chase should be fine so long as they are introduced appropriately. They both should also do well with other cats and even if the other cat(s) weren’t super keen on kitten shenanigans and playing Amara and Auggie do just fine keeping each other busy and happy. If interested in adopting Amara and Auggie, the first step is filling out an adoption application at cnycatcoalition.org/adoption/adoption-application. Just make sure that you note the app is for Auggie and Amara on Petfinder. Please if possible text their foster mom Laura to let her know when you have submitted an application at 315-415-7572. Once an application is received it will be processed and if approved, we will set up a meet and greet +/- potential adoption. *Both kittens are tested negative for Feline Aids (FIV), Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and heart worm disease. They are up to date on their FVRCP vaccine boosters and dewormed thoroughly along with being on monthly flea prevention. Their spay/neuter and rabies vaccine will be done when they are 4-5 months old and their foster mom will help orchestrate this unless you prefer to use your own vet. Apply online at cnycatcoalition.org/adoption/adoption-application (say you saw the cat on Petfinder). Your donation of $140 each ($160 if the kitten is microchipped) will contribute to the cost of veterinary treatments the cat has received, such as spay/neuter, rabies and distemper vaccines, testing, deworming, and flea and ear mite treatments. CNYCC is a New York State Registered Shelter/Rescue, Registration Number: RR099
