My Story

My name is Asia. I am a beautiful petite 8lb two year old Seal Point, (Siamese, Birma/ ragdoll/mix) female, with striking blue eyes and a lovely bushy tail. My soft hair is medium length and will require some brushing. I have been spayed/vaccinated/tested for leukemia/fiv/negative and microchipped. I also have my medical records. I was born in a little neighborhood park in the spring of "2002" and the six months I was there it was real scary for me. I knew I was different from other kitties because they had homes to go to but my Mom, siblings and I didn't so we didn't know what to do or how to act around Humans. We were rescued by "our foster Mom" and she helped us to become acquainted with the Human touch. It feels good to be petted and played with the way "normal kitties" get to do, even if it takes time to get use to. It feels good to be able to depend on food and water everyday plus treats and toys too. My social skills are improving, but I am still skittish and shy. Strange faces, small children, dogs and new situations are stressful and it takes me a long time to warm up. The care here is structured and consistent which is what I need. There is love to go around and it is OK for now. Unfortunately, dogs live here too and they chase us every chance they get so we stay in the room out of fear of being hurt. I wish I had a "special" place in a living room so I could stretch out to relax and watch you doing your chores etc. Unfortunately, We have a "gloomy" situation in our "household. Our "Foster Mom" said she needs our room for her mother to sleep and spend most of her time in because she is elderly and cannot take care of her needs well enough to live independently. It is the only spare room in the house so there would be no place of refuge for us. The reality of the stress is just too hard for our "foster Mom." I know she is sad and worries about me finding a nurturing and responsible home because I am a "Special Needs" kitty. I am smart and like to carefully observe so I can learn more about my caregivers. If you are good to me I will slowly allow my defenses to come down and realize, in time, you are my friend. After a while you will notice me lounging and when you feed me I will begin to realize you care for me and my "purr" engine will be turned on when you are near. I want someone to love so much, but I warm up slower than most, and that is why I am a "Special needs kitty". I like "interactive play toys" that can be held in one hand. The feather tip ones are the best. My favorite pastime is laying on a window sill or inside a cushy hammock connected to a window that is partially opened but screened in. I love to stretch out and watch birds and butterflies while sniffing fresh air. Initially, in a new home, I would need to live in a small area in the house until I was comfortable enough to explore on my own, otherwise I would feel panicky and want to hide. "PLEASE" ! Be patient with me and I will show you a "sweet and charming side to my personality. You may begin to realize you liked me more than you thought even though I am not a perfect kitty. I am very clean and always use my litter box too. If you have a heart that is big enough for me please let my "Foster Mom" know.
